I like to be where the action is, and last week, I represented Dev Team at several key ecommerce events in London to connect with industry leaders and discuss how the industry will look like in 2025.

Here are my most important takeaway points of the trip:

Shopify Editions Unleashed (Partner Day).

Shopify has signaled its intention to target large enterprise clients during Shopify Editions Unleashed (Partner Day). This move has generated significant interest amongst agencies and Magento advocates who are showing curiosity towards Shopify, signaling a changing landscape in ecommerce for 2025.

Though there is strong interest during the Shopify Editions Unleashed event, it remains to be seen whether Shopify can hold its own on Magento’s turf and what the possible influx of enterprise-savvy agencies will do to Shopify’s already saturated agency market.

Magento Agency Roundtable

Serious conversations with key business connections throughout the evening, and one of the standout topics was the Hyvä theme within the Magento ecosystem. Hyvä offers merchants leaner, faster solutions, and when combined with Magento’s open-source flexibility, it becomes a compelling choice for businesses seeking to optimise their e-commerce platforms.

 Ecommerce Expo

Day two took us to the Ecommerce Expo, an annual event that brings together B2B and B2C ecommerce professionals in the heart of London. From keynote talks to casual corridor chats, it was clear that three key platforms are currently shaping the mid-market: Magento Open Source, Shopify, and Centra. Each has its own strengths, and merchants are carefully weighing their options based on flexibility, scalability, and cost. I also had the opportunity to connect with fascinating people from across the solutions landscape, with global expansion being the dominant theme.

Friends of Centra Event

To cap off the 48 hours of ecommerce festivities, I had the pleasure of attending the Friends of Centra event, where I received an introduction to another ecommerce agency interested in the moves that Dev Team is making in APAC.

The Battle for Mid-to-Enterprise Ecommerce Merchants

A jam-packed 2 days in London with valuable insights, new connections, and exciting opportunities. From exploring the growing competition between Shopify and Magento to discussing new partnerships and regional expansion plans. It’s safe to say the competition for mid-to-enterprise ecommerce merchants is intense, and platforms and agencies are ready to win over ambitious brands looking to scale. Stay tuned for more updates as we pursue these exciting opportunities!
